In partnership with TaleFlick, Passage Pictures options “The Queenie Chronicles”

Launched a month ago, TaleFlick has been receiving and curating hundreds of books from all over the world. Today they announced their first success story: the book series “The Queenie Chronicles,” written by Carolyn Steele, was optioned by Passage Pictures (Marjorie Prime, Experimenter) and will be developed for the screen.

The story takes place in a near future in which democracy has been declared no longer fit for purpose, and sortition is the new governing system. It’s a dark satire with humor and strong political commentary.

Singer says he is “delighted to have found such original material. It only shows how many great stories are already out there, just waiting to be told.”

Steele is thrilled and in her own words, "a little overwhelmed." She said she is "happy that her ideas have found such a terrific home and can't wait to see her characters brought to life."

The author is now based in Lancashire, England. She has been a psychologist, a paramedic, and a truck driver, among other pursuits, before finding her niche as a writer and editor.

Passage Pictures is currently developing other book adaptations such as Daniel Ammann’s best-seller “The King of Oil” (now set at Universal with Matt Damon and John Krasinski attached), Don DeLillo’s “White Noise,” and Jess Walter’s NYT best-seller “The Zero.”
