The Desert and Its Seed: TaleFlick developing bestseller into film/series

TaleFlick has obtained the adaptation rights for The Desert and Its Seed by Jorge Barón Biza, a modern Argentinian classic, based on the story of the renowned Raúl Barón Biza - a wealthy politician and notorious writer - and his wife Rosa Clotilde Sabattini. Jorge Barón Biza (1942–2001) was a journalist and professor, who also worked for various Argentinian publishing houses. His family’s tragic lives are documented in several books. 

Written in a captivating plain style with dark, bitter humor, The Desert and Its Seed has been published to enormous acclaim throughout the Spanish-speaking world and translated into many languages. "The story immediately begins with an ex-husband throwing acid at his ex-wife’s face over divorce papers in 1960s Argentina. As she and her son travel to Milan to reconstruct her features, her son grapples with his family demons and identity. It is based on Barón Biza’s own tragic life, which elevates the story from an interesting concept to a heartbreaking tale of machismo, family, and decay. The book stuck with me long after reading it, it’s very unique," says producer Uri Singer, CEO of TaleFlick.
