Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes, the book profile accurately reflects the book.

Draw of Story

The story begins by showing Joe's writing and struggles with it. It sets the tone and gives a bit of insight to the theme of the story.

Possible Drawbacks

The book has a good mix of humor, action and suspense. It was entertaining throughout the whole story. It does follow certain cliché's that have been done many times over. Unassuming, innocent man gets mistakenly mixed up with the mob. An irate mob boss killing people for simple mistakes. The situations felt predictable.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY DOES NOT RELY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that Joe decides to accept the offer to tell Patty's story but learns he is being frame by his wife and Patty. Now he is the main target of a mob boss. I would watch this movie for the dark humor and adventure. It is always entertaining to see someone thrust into a world completely unlike their own and deal with the mayhem.

Fanbase Potential

This could have a decent sized fanbase. It has humor, adventure and danger. There are many tense and endearing moments especially with Joe and his brother, Glenn. Overall, it doesn't feel very unique but is entertaining, nonetheless.

Awards Potential

This doesn't have awards potential as is but with the right director , it could. A director with a unique style could transform this story and make it special through the storytelling. There is a lot room to explore Joe's character and define some of his characteristics as well as the other characters.

What’s New About the Story

The story is original in its tale of a ghost writer finding himself mixed up with the mob. It is comedy of errors that leads to many deaths. It follows the same formula and uses many of the same troupes as other movies. The cliffhanger felt predictable.

Lead Characters

The lead character is an average man that finds himself in extraordinary circumstances. His whole world is turned upside down by the betrayal of his wife and being targeted by the mob. He lived a quiet life and now he is fighting for his life. Joe's most admirable quality is his desire to fight back and survive. His character is not shown with much emotional depth because more emphasis is placed on the events than of character development.

Uniqueness of Story

This is not a rare gem but a solid, entertaining story that would translate well to screen. There is room for creative storytelling to give this more of an edge. It has a great basis to build on.
