Development Pitch

NICKY FUSCO drives to Nino Tortella’s house and waits. Nino walks in, and is beaten with a bat and murdered. To confuse the medical examiner., Nicky sprinkles DNA evidence from multiple people before leaving. Detective FRANKIE DONOVAN investigates and finds evidence pointing to people from his old neighborhood, and that’s his worst nightmare. Years ago, Frankie, Nicky, and TONY grew up together as youngsters in an Italian neighborhood: stealing cigarettes, working for wise guys, and taking an oath of friendship & honor. Nicky says if anyone breaks that oath, they’ll die. Nicky falls in love with ANGELA at the age of fifteen, but then he gets involved in a gang fight. He shoots a rival who kills his friend, Tommy. Nicky is arrested and sent to prison. Ten years later, Nicky is released from prison and goes to see Tony, now a mobster in  N.Y. Tony introduces Nicky to TITO, an organized crime boss. Nicky tells Tito he will do anything as long as he can make money to get Angela back. Tito tells Nicky he wants him to become a hitman’s apprentice. Nicky accepts and kills three men who owe Tito money. Tony suggests Tito use Nicky to take care of a woman (GINA) who is blackmailing Tito, because he knows that Nicky will probably say no. Secretly, Tony knows that sooner or later, Nicky will find out that Tony raped Angela, and he wants to get rid of Nicky before that happens. Nicky agrees to kill Gina, but he can’t go through with it; instead, he helps her escape. Gina is shot

Accuracy of Book Profile

Book profile is excellent.

Draw of Story

The hook of this story is certainly Nicky, the protagonist, and it is clear from the start. Lines are also impactful and well written, which keeps the script reading interesting and is crucial to this type of narrative. The first scene is also violent enough to grab audience’s attention from the start.

Possible Drawbacks

Nothing made me want to put the script down, however violence can get pretty graphic at times.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES A LITTLE BIT ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

I would watch this movie as it has potential to become an interesting update to gangster narratives, with the ambiguity of romanticism and violence; naivety and betrayal, sometimes even in the same character. Its protagonist, Nicky, gathers those elements and becomes interesting along with the dubious ethic code he lives by as this sort of soft-hearted criminal.

Fanbase Potential

It could have a large fanbase if adapted in case other characters, apart from protagonist, are better developed – especially Tony – in order to create even more relatability with audience. More hints to sustain his behavior may be provided – maybe early age jealousy of Nicky. More understanding about his behavior could lead to a deeper engagement.

Awards Potential

It could have awards potential because it offers upgrades on a style that is well-known to Hollywood and great results could be achieved both in innovative art direction as in references to old style movies. Lines are also sharp and well-written, and good actors would certainly benefit from this and take this narrative to the next level.

Envisioned Budget

MEDIUM BUDGET

SCARFACE, THE IRISH, GODFATHER.

What’s New About the Story

The original thing about this story is mostly concentrated on the construction of the protagonist Nicky. Also, lines are great; more character development could be done in order to make them even more unique.

Lead Characters

The friendship bond between the three boys and the betrayals involved as time passes are what drive this narrative; but the most interesting thing about it is how Nicky follows this dubious code of ethics, unlike Tony, but in the end they are all dangerous criminals with murders on their backs.

Uniqueness of Story

It could be improved in terms of character development, especially regarding side characters. What makes Nicky and Tony stand out in terms of becoming iconic characters is a question worth asking.

Consider it because the material is interesting, however it would need to be sharpened in order to get the attention of investors in terms of character development and lines.
