Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes, the book profile accurately reflects the book.

Draw of Story

The story describes all the characters and their backstory. The characters have very unique stories and are specifically fighting sex offenders and racists. There is a good foundation to the story considering this is the second book in the series.

Possible Drawbacks

The writing is lacking. The dialogue is overly explanatory. Much of the information is explained through dialogue which takes away from the character development. The story needs more sophisticated writing to create the tone. There is little individuality to the characters because everyone's dialogue is used to convey so much information. The term "colored" was used throughout the story which felt misplaced considering African American and Black were also used. There should be consistent, politically correct terms used.

Use of Special Effects

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that a band of vigilantes have resurfaced to continue to fight against sexual assault and racism. The public is on their side but law enforcement is trying stop them. I would watch this movie to see the superhero genre be used to fight real world issues, especially ones that are prominent in today's society.

Fanbase Potential

This would not have a large fanbase, based off of the political climate. The subject matter is sensitive and mainstream audiences might not be ready for it to be tackled in this way. This could find success as an indie film.

Awards Potential

This wouldn't have awards potential. The story is lacking in tone. The writing does not convey a serious story with complexities. It feels very juvenile and underdeveloped.

What’s New About the Story

The story is original because it is vigilante, crime fighting against sex offenders and racists. The characters feel like they have no voice and that law enforcement are corrupt. They are taken matters into their own hands by down the real criminals. It is a very unique premise but the writing does not do the premise justice.

Lead Characters

The lead characters stand out for their dedication to their causes and the lengths they go to get justice. They could have more developed, individual qualities that make them stand out more if the story developed their voices better.

Uniqueness of Story

The premise of the story is very unique but it isn't delivered in the best way. The story could have more gravitas and the dialogue takes away from the tone greatly. The characters are vigilantes but they lack mystery because they are constantly regurgitating information out.

Analyst Recommendation

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Tips for Improvement

The writing and dialogue needs stylizing to transport the audience into the world of the book. The dialogue needs to be unique to each character, giving them an individual voice. The characters give too much information away, leaving no mystery or twists to the story.
