Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes, the book profile accurately reflects the book.

Draw of Story

The story draws you in learning about the sad childhood Red has. He is abandoned by his father, watches his mother die in front of him and gets placed in foster care. The concern for the character is established early.

Possible Drawbacks

The story drags given unnecessary details. The pace picks up once Red is older and gets the letter from his father. The story should give a brief look at Red's childhood and jump into the plot quicker. The story also uses the same type of death to kill 3 characters. Red's mother, his foster father and Barnes all die suddenly by dropping dead of heart failure, regardless of age. There could be more creativity with their deaths.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY DOES NOT RELY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that Red reconnecting with his long lost and now, extremely wealthy, father puts in the Survivor Games. I would watch for the action of the various games Cartwright puts them through and Red trying to ascertain if this man is really his father.

Fanbase Potential

This could have a decent fanbase. The premise is unique but it doesn't always make sense. The question of why Red really decides to do the survivor games is open. And he is relatively passive about seeing the father that abandoned him to the foster care system while living luxuriously on hundreds of millions of dollars. There is a lot of action which will draw the audience in.

Awards Potential

This does not have awards potential. The goal of this story is to shock and entertain. There are different acts of violence, grit and action. It achieves that but does not dive into character development or arcs. It would not garner awards attention.

Envisioned Budget

What’s New About the Story

The story has original elements such as Red being contacted by his father after 30 years. It is not the warm and forgiving reunion you see when two people reconnect after a long time. Red is apprised of his father's wealth and that it will be his someday. Then he is roped into doing the Survivor Games for his father's sadistic enjoyment. The games are filled with horrible experiences which forces him to revolt and kill his father in the end.

Lead Characters

The lead character doesn't stand out. He is a normal America child who has had a sad childhood. He leads a ordinary life, happy with what he has. He shows the most emotion when he is subjected to the games and the harsh environment they create for the participants.

Uniqueness of Story

This is an interesting story with unique elements that would make it interesting for audiences. There are some interesting moments, a few twist and an ironic ending.

Possible Formats

Film: Studio, Indie, Streaming TV Series: Limited Run / Mini-Series

Analyst Recommendation

CONSIDER

Justification

The story is well written and there are some unique elements to it. The story is short and needs to be developed deeper. There should be more character development to enrich the world of the story and the dynamics between Red and his father. The world of the town could also be deepened to give a better understanding of the hold Ben has over it. The action is entertaining and the Survivor games will provide twist and horror.
