    Accuracy of Book Profile

The book profile is pretty accurate.

    Draw of Story

Hunky, sexy young lead. Magic Mike backdrop with lots of eye candy males. Integrity of the lead and his convincing struggle to keep sole custody of his young daughter.

    Possible Drawbacks

It's basically a poolside read, so it's not 'high literature'. From that POV, it fulfills the requirements of its prospective audience even if other readers might find it a bit shallow.

    Use of Special Effects

THE STORY DOES NOT RELY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

    Primary Hook of Story

Very similar to Magic Mike, perhaps too similar. The lead would have to be super hot and sympathetic.

    Fanbase Potential

It could be adapted into a TV version of Magic Mike, with different individual stories fleshing out the male stripper characters.

    Awards Potential

No. It's unabashedly shallow, eye-candy material.

    Envisioned Budget

    LOW BUDGET

    Similar Films/TV Series

    MAGIC MIKE, COYOTE UGLY.

    What’s New About the Story

To update it, lead Theo might lose his white-collar job because of the pandemic, and have to take the stripping job. It would help to give him a deeper, more intelligent side to his character.

    Lead Characters

Theo is all based on looks, obviously, but he's also a genuinely good guy even if he slips occasionally because of young man hormones. Sylvie is sweet but could be a bit less of a doormat with Aaron.

    Uniqueness of Story

No. It is what it is and could fill a nice niche in the market with female audiences.

    Possible Formats

TV Series: Streaming, Limited Run / Mini-Series

    Analyst Recommendation

    WORK IN PROGRESS

    Justification

There needs to be something added to the story to give it greater depth and make it more contemporary, otherwise it's just a carbon copy of Magic Mike.

    Tips for Improvement

Perhaps Theo having a relationship with Rachel might create more conflict between him and Sylvie to give the drama bit more depth.

    Brief

A hunky but sympathetic lead looking out for his young daughter, and individual stories about the male strippers he works with.

    What We Liked

The Magic Mike theme is something female audiences can't get enough of. It humanizes and de-stigmatizes male strippers, presenting endearing personal stories.

Hot male strippers obviously have a strong eye-candy attraction for female audiences. The material could be a cross between Magic Mike, Showgirls and the L Word in presenting a raunchy, risque but engaging world.

Key points: Hot but sympathetic lead, with a hot cast of background characters. Believable rags-to-middle class security story. Touching child custody drama. Opportunity for some great choreographed scenes. A great 'behind the scenes' or fly on the wall narrative of the strip club world.

    Synopsis

San Francisco, present day. THEO (mid 20s, tall, handsome, fit) is a single father, his girlfriend LEEYAN (mid 20s) having abandoned him and their young daughter, LULU (5) a few years before to enlist in the army. They got pregnant by accident soon after they started dating and she never wanted a child but Theo and her parents persuaded her to keep it.

Theo has struggled as a single parent, with numerous different jobs. Finally, he’s given in to his friend GIOVANNI (mid-late 20s, fit) who works as a stripper at a North Beach club called Trance. Theo needs to make better money to afford the high fees at an elite grade school for Lulu: he wants to give her the best start he can in life. SYLVIE (mid 20s, pretty), a former hook up now dating AARON (20s), comes over to babysit, bringing her toddler, REESE (18 months, male).

Theo is nervous on his first night, as the other guys – THOR, DAIN and DAMON (all 20s) tease him. Theo has such bad stage fright he throws up! Gio gives him an anti-nausea pill and a stiff drink and he gets it together to perform well. KARI (mid 20s), a bride-to-be at her bachelorette party pulls him into a side room to have hot sex!

Theo gets used to his new profession but is still nervous about giving private dances in the back rooms. RACHEL (early 30s) is a super-hot businesswoman who becomes a regular customer. When Syvie turns up with a black eye and bruising from Aaron, Theo tells her to leave him and move in with him. He’s always liked her and he’s now ready for something more committed.

Another side hustle through the club are private dance gigs at parties and weddings, etc. CHEYENNE (20s, hot) hires him as her wedding date – but Theo is aghast when he realizes she did it to deliberately taunt the bride, Kari, the woman he screwed at the strip club!

Theo tries to persuade Cheyenne to leave but they run into Kari and her new husband and Cheyenne spitefully tells them the truth. Kari is dumbfounded when her husband tells her he’s in love with Cheyenne! Theo splits, with no hope of getting the rest of his payment for that night.

Outside, waiting for an Uber, he runs into Rachel again who takes him back to her fancy hotel ‘to talk’. It’s obvious she wants sex and they have chemistry but Theo remains faithful to Sylvie: he loves her. Rachel pays him $1,500 anyway!

Back home, Theo is eager to get it on with Sylvie who’s dozing in bed but as they start to make out, the figure reveals she is Leeyan, who has left the army! She wants shared custody of her daughter, despite abandoning her, not having any communication or paying any child support. Theo is furious.

Theo is booked on another private dance gig – and it turns out to be Rachel. She wants to show him off to all her female corporate friends at a get together at a dinner. However, Theo is embarrassed when she wants him to dance for all her friends – with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist.

When one of his more daring stunts – requested by the host – gets a shocked reaction, the women awkwardly make excuses and leave. Theo is annoyed, and doesn’t even get his full fee.

Theo gets a panicked call from Sylvie – Leeyan has abducted Lulu! He races home and calls her, begging her to return his daughter. She’s holed up in a motel. He warns her that her actions are a terrible way to make a case for shared custody. Leeyan brings Lulu back and Theo privately wears he will never leave her alone again.

Leeyan hires lawyers in her custody case, forcing Theo to work overtime to afford a lawyer of his own. His attorney warns him that Leeyan will use his ‘unsuitable’ job against him.

Theo is called out to another private client, PATRICIA (40s), at a hotel. She keeps pushing boundaries, taking off her clothes whilst Theo tries to avoid touching her – or else it could be deemed prostitution.

Sure enough, Patricia turns out to have been hired by Leeyan to incriminate Theo. Even worse, Theo suddenly sees a huge billboard of himself half-naked, advertising the strip club!

But in court, Leeyan’s abandonment of her daughter, lack of communication or financial support and now her plan to train at the police academy for three months all add up to a clear-cut case. Theo is surprised to learn that Rachel is a friend of the female judge and has vouched for him, even offering him a white-collar job. Theo is grateful when he’s awarded full custody.

Sylvie has another surprise for him: after doing a routine DNA test for Theo, Leeyan and Lulu, Sylvia also took one for Reese and proves that he’s Theo’s child! She got pregnant while their friends-with-benefits dating was fizzling out – and she knew he wasn’t ready for another child. But now, Theo has bonded so well with Reese, he’s overjoyed to have a son.

The billboard is taken down. Theo quits his job and does one last private dance – it turns out to be Rachel. She is impressed with the integrity of his character and tells him he’ll be a great asset at her company.

A few days later, Theo, wearing a new suit and tie, is nervous as he goes off to his first day of work but Sylvie is supportive. He’s made his dreams of becoming a better and more solvent man come true.
