Accuracy of Book Profile

The profile does reflect the story. The logline, summary and pitch all do a great job accomplishing their sectional function.

Draw of Story

The conflict of elephant poaching as a kid movie is compelling. It expands on larger colonial and environmental themes as well.

Possible Drawbacks

The pacing can be uneven and by introducing the threats to the herd sooner, the conflict will be more apparent and thus quicken the pacing.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that a young elephant is poached from his herd and the scientists and herd have to go save him before its too late.

Fanbase Potential

As an animated feature this could have a huge fanbase but as a live action film this might also be slightly popular. The themes are solid and the plot is simple and easy to follow for any family audience.

Awards Potential

By developing the economic and environmental themes related to poaching as well as conservationism, this could do very well in children's categories for prestige awards (especially if animated).

Envisioned Budget

MEDIUM BUDGET

What’s New About the Story

Although the characters are quite different and the structure involves humans more heavily, this is quite similar to the rescue plot of Finding Nemo. Focusing specifically on poaching as a theme and on unique character transformations will help make the story feel more original.

Lead Characters

Hugo is inquisitive and friendly. Nfusi is hopeful and brave. Afua is wise but cautious. Morgan is protective and direct.

Uniqueness of Story

With a couple of tweaks in pacing and thematic focus, this could be a great addition to animated children's films.

Possible Formats

Film: Streaming, Indie, Studio

Analyst Recommendation

CONSIDER

Justification

The pacing is a bit slow, but the premise, themes and conflict are worth exploring as a animated family feature. Poaching in the Congo as a digestible children's film would be unique story to tell.
