Short Summary

Fantasy and reality collide when characters from Clementine's favourite fantasy books come to life and won't let the author complete the series unless he brings back their hero, Clementine Parkes, to save them. Clementine gets dragged into the mess, insisting she's just an ordinary girl and no hero.

After it turns out that Zac's magic wand also works for Clementine, they band together, with help from friends, to defeat the evil Endor. Clementine realises that even though it was a coincidence that the book's original hero was called Clementine Parkes, she is an actual hero in real life.

Setting

At the moment it's set on the Gold Coast, Queensland, near where I live but it can easily be adapted to a U.S. or U.K. setting.

Development Pitch

This is already a TV series and the script has been submitted. Clementine Parkes taps into the world of every child – the feelings of joy, adventure and purpose they have when escaping into their favourite worlds through TV shows, movies, games and books. What if you learned that you should’ve been Harry Potter? Or the Grace kids in The Spiderwick Chronicles? Perhaps you were meant to be the ring bearer in The Lord of the Rings? It’s the ultimate dream come true! Most of all, viewers of this series will soak up the all-important message that it’s always best to… UNLOCK YOUR OWN INNER MAGIC!

Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes, the book profile accurately reflects where the script is going but gets a little ahead of itself. The major plot of the story is barely introduced but as a scripted series, it will get there.

Draw of Story

The story dives into the fantasy world of the book the main character loves. It introduces it in the first episode and sets the tone of the story. The comedy and charm of the story come through with the creatures and jumping into the world of the book.

Possible Drawbacks

There is nothing that made me want to put the script down. It is just introducing the story at this point with a lot of room to grow and deepen the world.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that Clementine is unknowingly a character in her favorite fantasy book series. The characters from the story appear to the author because they need her back to fight the Endors. I would watch the movie for the mix of reality and fantasy.

Fanbase Potential

This could have a large fanbase. It is a teen dramedy show that would be appealing to adults as well. There is fantasy, adventure and teen angst that has the potential for lots of fun situations, great visual effects and creating beloved characters.

Awards Potential

This does not have major awards potential as is. The story is mainly focused on adventure and humor. It could evolve especially when the characters mature and age.

What’s New About the Story

The story is not very unique at the moment. It is the pilot episode and has room to develop. The theme of fictional characters interacting with real life characters has been done before. As the story develop and the world of the book is explored, the story will be more unique.

Lead Characters

The lead character stands out for her passion and drive to get what she wants. Her favorite author of her favorite books has moved into town. She ignores the advice of everyone around her and goes to meet him. It will prove to be life changing because she is "The One" meant to save the people of Otherland.

Uniqueness of Story

This is not a gem at the moment. It has the potential to be a memorable series when combining the fictional and real worlds. The fictional world is ripe with possibilities especially with Clementine's involvement.

Analyst Recommendation

CONSIDER

Justification

This story has many possibilities for adventure, fun and positive female representation. The world of the book series Clementine loves is ripe with opportunity for many storylines and visual effects. The main characters are also young which means life lesson will be learned. This could be a long running teen drama that will follow the characters as they grow up.

Logline

When characters escape from an insecure tween’s favourite fantasy books and insist that she’s their true hero, she learns how to unlock her own magic and becomes the hero she never dreamed she could be.
