Logline

‘War Stories from My Father’ is a historic memoire based on many years of conversations with his late father, Master Sergeant Mohamed Ben Salem Lahlali who had a tumultuous military career in the French Army of N. Africa from 1940-1955. ‘War Stories from my Father’ turned out to be a unique and exhaustive study of the participation of N. African Soldiers in both WWII, and the French conflict in Vietnam (ex. Indochina) that is available in English 'War Stories from my Father' chronicles the prelude to the independence of many countries from France. This period in History remains one of the most painful and least studied episodes in the History of post WWII France, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Vietnam. Abdellatif follows his father’s adventurous life throughout the Francophone world in the early 1950’s, and records his multiple observations at a critical time in History. 'War Stories from my Father' celebrates the life of Master Sergeant Ben Salem Lahlali who was considered a prodigy of early Radio and Telegraph communication, he was trained by the French, then by the American Army, and he worked tirelessly to expand Radio / Telegraph communication in post-independent Morocco by helping to build land-based Maritime Radio Stations to regulate Maritime traffic in Morocco’s territorial waters. 'War Stories from my Father' is the culmination of many years of research in N. Africa, Europe, N. America, and Asia. It is a tribute to the generation of King Mohamed V, and Thousands of Moroccans who were called upon to defeat Nazism and Fascism during WWII, as well as those who fell prey to the advent of the cold war’s deadly rivalries
