A simple game with the secret God of War, Theodoric, gets Cassia killed. She is sacrificed and then kidnapped to end the war in her home country. Theo can save her by marrying her but then has to end a war he does not want. Both end up wielding their control to one another, only to find out they're being controlled by unknown forces intent of wielding the war in their own agenda.

The logline is a bit more like a tagline and could have more context as to how Theo and Cassia are fated together and which union could cause which outcome. The short summary could also be enhanced with a larger second section detailing the conflict when they do fall in love to better reflect the latter half of the book.

The mystery and chemistry between Theo and Cassia is complicated and magnetic. Their dilemma is interesting and their solution empowers both their inner conflicts in a followable transformation.

The twist that Astra also double crossed the two protagonists takes away some of their proactive actions and makes them more reactive in retrospect, them trying to regain control over their feelings after this change doesn't connect as well given that their love is used as the deciding motivation for their transformations of their inner conflicts.

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

The hook is that Cassia is trapped in limbo because of a God she doesn't believe in. The God either has to marry her and stop a war or she has to let her brother die for her freedom. Both know the other doesn't want to do that, but not marrying will cause Cassia to stay dead and Theo to never get his true power back.

This could have a large fan base with an equal focus to the war as well as the romance to provide stakes to both. The world building is interesting and the characterization is strong.

Due to its modern fantasy genre with a large portion dedicated to supernatural "teen" this is unlikely to gain prestige nominations but could win in the popular circuit.

MEDIUM BUDGET

DIVERGENT, BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, TWILIGHT, IMMORTALS, TROY, PERCY JACKSON LIGHTNING THIEF

The originality stems from the dynamic of the protagonists and the world building of an imagined modern fantasy. Focusing equally on the politics and revealing other God's motivations earlier would help create tension in the main characters not knowing their true lack of control.

Cassia is level-headed, calculating and observant. She is also dedicated and caring. Theo is stubborn and somewhat of a heartless sweetheart who acts cold but is very sensitive and explosive.

This is a rare gem in that it is original fantasy with an original plot and deep characters that all go through transformations.

CONSIDER

The world building, plot, and characters are all have strong emotional investment. There are some tweaks that could help such as adjusting Astra's meddling role, but overall this story can hold its own as already marketable.
