Development Pitch
Tommy Spenser, a sergeant in the Pittsburgh Police Department’s Narcotics division, is a functioning addict. His life hasn’t been easy. He comes from a family of cops, including his father and his two brothers. He’s depressed, an alcoholic, and suicidal, and his cancer is back. Everything changes when Tommy and his partner Marco bust Razor Washington, a longtime player in Pittsburgh’s drug scene, and Tommy is summoned to a domestic call down the street. Claire Samuels-Hewitt is a battered housewife, a shell of her former self. Tommy sees something in Claire—or perhaps it’s the other way around—and as the two lean on each other for support, an unlikely, if volatile romance blossoms. But when the TEC-9s used in a nightclub shooting against the Washington family syndicate turn out to be the same weapons that were checked out of police evidence, all clues point to someone in law enforcement. As Tommy puts the pieces together and learns the truth about those closest to him, so too must he come face-to-face with Claire’s past and his own haunting demons.
