There is a serial killer at large in Los Angeles. The victims are all wealthy, middle-aged men which makes this case about as high-profile as it gets. L.A.P.D. Detective Phineas Coen, a black, Jewish transplant from New York City is tasked with solving the case along with his young protégé, Garcia.

Short Summary

The story begins with a dream Detective, Phineas Coen is having about his ex-wife Valerie. The dream is interrupted by his cell phone, calling him to the scene of a murder.

The killer is caught and the LAPD's job is done, except Detective Finn can't let it go. He drives to the mental institution/prison to interview the killer which provides him the details of how the killer did it, and ensures the killer will never be released.

Development Pitch

My book adds some new twists in protagonist, victimology, motive and profile of the murderer, not usually seen in stories about serial killers. I was tired of the lead detective in books, movies and television shows always being a white guy and the victims all young girls or prostitutes. I wanted to do something different. I think this would be a great movie or mini-series as the protagonist is compelling and his protege, a Latina woman has a wonderful character arc which people will relate to. Plus, it's a really interesting story that presents a moral debate about what is revenge vs what is justice?

About The Author

I am submitting this novel under my penname, C. L. Bradford because people are going to have a hard time believing a Marketing Manager from Westlake Village, California can write gritty, noir-style crime fiction, but the truth is, I am not a novice to this genre. I wrote a dozen plays that were produced and performed throughout the state of Ohio back in the 1980s, all in this genre. The plays were very successful and well received by audiences. Gritty, crime fiction is my jam.
