Me Father was a Hero and Me Mother is a Saint is the story of a large working class family living in Dublin's North City. My father served in the IRA during the War of Independence against the British and again during the Civil War. He spent time in prison on both occasions. The effects on the extended family following the Civil War.He later went on to serve with the British 8th. Army during the 2nd. WW in North Africa Sicily and Italy. Then much later, my service as an officer in the Irish Defence Forces and what happened after I picked up information in advance of the blowing up of Nelson's Column in Dublin and a serious threat to the security of the State. The behaviour of Army Intelligence and the Police resulting in my life being threatened by the Provisional IRA and how I dealt with that. The murder of an old schoolfriend who was a member of that organisation. My father's decision to emigrate to England in the 50's and the effects that had on the family. The breakdown of my marriage and it's effects. Finally finding happiness with my new wife.
