What We Liked
- The premise is strong. The single setting does a great job of building suspense. It is very marketable - this would do extremely well among horror fans.
- Almost single location which helps to really build the suspense of the story.
- A character with a tragic past seeking redemption is always an audience pleaser.
- It is a perfect horror suspense story to bring to the big screen. It is almost ready to go as is and should be an easy sell.
- Key points: Suspenseful; Virtually single location; Popular genre; Horror with a redemption storyline; Use of exceptionally frightening imagery.
Synopsis
It is snowing in every country in the world. And it isn’t just any snow either. It is absolutely apocalyptic outside. A group of people are holed up in an English pub to ride out the storm where they try keep warm by drinking beer and building a fire.
Harry Jobson is among those in the pub. He has a sad and tragic past and now embraces his reputation as the town drunk at the pub each night. The power goes out and the group is soon joined by other locals fleeing the weather as well. The most notable is a jovial stranger calling himself Lucas.
It becomes apparent that something sinister is outside the pub as the locals recount stories of frightening encounters with tall hooded figures and vicious beasts. The patrons all come to accept this as a reality when a body with the words, “Send out the Sinner” carved into its chest is hurled in through the pub window. Tensions run high, squabbles break out and secrets are revealed.
While outside in the elements, Lucas finally tells Harry that he is the sinner that is being stalked by angels and Hell Hounds. When Harry committed murder, it was the last sin that God could tolerate and he ushered in the apocalypse as a result. Upon hearing of his immense impact on the world, he makes a great personal sacrifice. His selfless act causes God to reconsider and gives humankind a second chance.
