    Pitch Adaptation

Movie Pitch Origin This movie is a true-life story of a young hard-working hospital Histotech who suffers constant harassment from doctors that they work with in the same hospital. Similar activities happen almost every day now and without delay are countless medical lab profession out there who have in the past and still encountering such nightmares. This is a story I believe will get more people to realize that everyone in society has the collective responsibility of fighting against this work place problem. My idea of contributing to this cause was making a film about the issue, involving a real-life story that I had seen myself. Human Hook The audience will care about this film because it presents actual experiences of a woman who underwent sexual violence but decided to combat her assailants valiantly. Characters The film is based on the life of a histotechnicians named Vivian, who after starting working in a new hospital, is gets harassed by a cocky surgeon named Peter, but she fights back in an unprecedented fashion. Desires Vivian desires to expose Peter’s decadent behavior and make him face the pertinent legal consequences. Obstacles Despite Vivian’s devotion to revealing Peter’s lewd behavior, she realizes it will not be that easy because most of the other staff members want to cover up their lead surgeon’s actions. Highlights At one point during Vivian’s contest with Peter, he injects him with truth serum and records him on her phone as he incriminates

    Accuracy of Book Profile

The over-the-top nature of Vivian's revenge should be made plain.

    Draw of Story

It's very frustrating what Vivian goes through both being harassed and not being believed. This creates a degree of empathy and emotional engagement.

    Possible Drawbacks

There's evidence that this has not been proofread. Character headings doubled, timeline not adding up. Describing each character only in terms of their physical attractiveness. Some scenes are excessively long. Jose is an offensive stereotype.

    Use of Special Effects

THE STORY DOES NOT RELY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

    Primary Hook of Story

It's very frustrating what Vivian goes through both being harassed and not being believed. This creates a degree of empathy and emotional engagement.

    Fanbase Potential

This is a Lifetime movie. That's the only venue likely for this to get produced.

    Awards Potential

No. In it's best form this is a campy revenge thriller, not the kind of serious look at sexual harassment that may attract awards attention.

    What’s New About the Story

There's little here that isn't found in some other film or show, what's unique is the combination. What's unique is that you don't usually have workplace harassment and truth serum in the same movie. Making the mixture more even throughout might help that tone work consistently.

    Lead Characters

Vivian's plight is engaging. The frustration she feels is palpable.

    Uniqueness of Story

No. While it claims to be based on a true story this script provides melodrama and an unrealistic fantasy solution to a real problem.

    Possible Formats

    Film: Studio, Indie, Streaming

    Analyst Recommendation

    WORK IN PROGRESS

    Justification

The events are melodramatic and strain credulity. This script falls in the cracks between a realistic portrayal of workplace harassment and a campy revenge thriller. Instead of combining genres into a cohesive whole it takes multiple elements and stitches them together into a mixed bag. Too much of the dialogue is stilted, unnatural and exists only to push forward the plot. It seems unlikely to achieve its stated intention of resonating with women who've experienced harassment when it answers this problem in such an unlikely way.

    Tips for Improvement

More realistic characters and dialogue. A tonally consistent plot.

    Brief

    What We Liked

Vivian's initial experience with being harassed and not being believed is empathetic. The plot takes unpredictable turns in her quest for revenge and vindication.

Histotech could be an attractive story to an audience that wants their sexual harassment with a dash of revenge wish fulfillment. Vivian's refusal to be a victim and her creative and physically punishing way of doling out justice could strike a chord with those who want a happy ending to an all too familiar beginning.

    Key points:
    Emotionally engaging.
    Twists and turns.
    Strong female protagonist.
    Happy ending.
    Clear good versus evil.

    Synopsis

Vivian starts as a new histotech at a hospital and is immediately greeted by Chicago's most renowned and sexually inappropriate surgeon. She also befriends Lisa, head of pediatric nurses. Peter makes inappropriate jokes and unwelcome advances. Vivian is aided out of one encounter by Alex, the handsome janitor. She gets to know Alex, a single dad, and is smitten with him.

Peter sends around pictures of him with a photoshopped Vivian. She complains to the hospital chief of staff, Maude, but is talked down to and blamed for her own discomfort. Vivian confronts Peter herself and he does a complete about-face and apologizes. Later Peter asks her to talk to a belligerent patient and protects her when the patient becomes violent.

Alex asks Vivian for help with his daughter Lacie to find a training bra and she obliges. A mysterious figure takes a sample from the morgue. Vivian is called in by Maude and informed that she made a mistake in her samples that could have cost a pregnant woman her child, if it hadn't been caught by Peter. She is only not suspended on his insistence. Afterwards she agrees to have a drink with him, as friends. He tries to take her home and she walks out.

Alex asks Vivian to come to his daughter's ball game, she accepts. Peter watches angrily from his car and later confronts her at work while she's changing and threatens her. Alex is fired for failing a drug test, a test Peter tells Vivian she conducted. Peter has the security guards rough Alex up on the way out.

Peter resumes his blatant sexual harassment. When a storm shuts down the lights and security cameras he tries force himself on her in her lab, she takes him down with some martial arts moves. Peter and his friends try to grab her armed with knives. She disables one by choking him with an electrical cord and cuts off the genitals of another. She overpowers Peter and injects him with penthanol, truth serum.

Vivian is led away in handcuffs, but stopped by her lawyer, law school dropout and now legal intern Alex. They kiss in front of the cameras. Peter lines up a high-powered lawyer but tells his friends about a recording Vivian made of him admitting everything. Alex's apartment is invaded by a gun-wielding thug, who smashes Vivian's phone but who is then shot in the leg by police as he flees.

At a preliminary hearing to determine if Vivian can be charged with attempted murder the lawyers call witnesses to re litigate the earlier claims of harassment. Alex calls in Raymond, the thug who invaded his apartment. Raymond testifies to stealing the sample from the morgue to create the erroneous test, to planting the fake drug test to fire Alex and destroying the phone. Alex then produces backups of the confession video. The case is open and shut.

Peter is tossed into a jail cell with two large prisoners who imply they will rape him. Alex, Vivian and Lacie walk down a sandy beach together.
