Prime Directive: Earth appeals to sci-fi fans of all ages. While not a Star Trek book, its title is an instant draw to the legions of Star Trek fans. It presents one of Star Trek’s most consistent story lines, the prime directive, in a completely new light, where we are the ones in danger. It also has elements of a superhero movie, with characters having strong psychic powers and the ability to slow time. It's fast action and likable characters adds to the attraction. It was written with a transition to the big screen in mind.

A couple of years ago, I experienced a life-changing (and darn near life-ending) event. I was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and given about six months to live, if I was lucky. As I was going through all the trauma, and unable to work, I began writing about my feelings as I experienced them. This stream-of-conscious proved to be therapeutic and later became my book, Mortal Musings. It also reinvigorated a life-long desire to write creatively full-time. I have three completed works ready for publication. Prime Directive: Earth, the science fiction novel I am submitting here; From Dusty Plains to Wartime Planes, an autobiography of my father’s experiences growing up in rural Dust Bowl Kansas then becoming a pilot in WWII; and Mortal Musings, a book about my experiences and thoughts while fighting terminal cancer. For the past 25 years I have made my living as a golf course consultant, frequently writing extensive and detailed reports, which can reach over 500 pages, single-spaced. I have developed an outstanding reputation in the field, not just for my work, but for my writing and communication skills. Before my consulting career, I was an entrepreneur, owning several businesses. Prior to venturing into the business world, I was at the University of Kansas, working on my PhD in Psychology where I had several professional articles published. Relevant to this book is while at KU, I became the first to teach an accredited course in Parapsychology and was fortunate to take an SF course taught by James Gunn.
