Short Summary
Within a five-year time period, I covered over 20,000 miles of road, much of it hitchhiking and alone, including the entire length of Route 66. In the summer of 1972, I survived a stay at the Cecil Hotel in LA's Skid Row which is narrated in the book on pages 43-44.
Setting
My first trip at age 17, was to Washington, D.C. to protest the Viet Nam War (March on Washington 1969). My travels continued on to the Atlanta Pop Festival, Mardi Gras, Toronto Pop Festival, California and Montana.
