Development Pitch
I imagine the sword fight scenes from Kill Bill but with a more Lord of the Rings type setting. The weapon fighting scenes are descriptive as part of the book's hook is the use of several "magical" weapons. So I imagine a main focus on making the film be well choreographed fight scenes. The only reason I compared it to Lord of the Rings is because the story takes place thousands of years ago, so in a more primitive land. The area is described with mountains and lakes but all the action takes place in simple villages. Because of the setting, I imagine this film can be produced with a relatively small film budget. (With potential to be more grand scale.) While there is a lot of swordplay, there is also a lot of dialogue between the two main characters. It is just as important to me that people walk away thinking or feeling something after the movie as it is that they are kept entertained through it. With this dialogue the viewer will be able to walk away from the movie feeling like the moral dilemmas the main characters faced are still relevant today. Ideally the viewer will walk away from this movie pondering things like the origin of civilizations, commerce and the monetary system, what secrets the earth holds, and even where traditions like engraving tombstones for the dead came from. As the end of the movie phases into the credits, playing either Viva La Vida by Coldplay or Demons by Imagine Dragons would be perfect.
