Accuracy of Book Profile

Yes, the book profile accurately reflects the book.

Draw of Story

The story is a fantasy novel. Eve is a little girl when first introduced and is destined to fight evil. She can see fairies. It is revealed that her mother is Queen of the Fairies, living amongst humans. There are many fun fantasy elements with other worlds.

Possible Drawbacks

The dialogue is lacking, it is unrealistic and not distinct to the characters. At times, it feels very formal which doesn't match the setting or people. The Grim Reaper and the Scythe elements do no add gravitas to the story. They are low on the scale for scary enemies which in turn, makes the stakes feel lower.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that Eve is a Fairy Princess destined to wield the Scythe that will defeat the Grim Reapers. I would watch the movie for the world building of the fairies and the Grim Reapers. The Grim Reaper isn't normally an active villain so creating an ideology around the mythology would be interesting to see.

Fanbase Potential

This would not have a large fanbase. Fairies can draw interest but Grim Reapers feel cheesy and low brow because of it's overuse at Halloween. This could change the perspective but it might hinder an initial interest in the story.

Awards Potential

This does have awards potential for set design and special effects. The world of the story is fantasy and one that has license to be anything visually. The fairies and Grim Reapers could look a variety of ways that could garner awards notice for ingenuity.

Envisioned Budget

What’s New About the Story

The story is original because it is using Grim Reapers as an active antagonist. Many times, they are just symbols of death but they are many together. The reapers have a leader and are turning humans into them. That is a different ideology than normally seen around the character. The story around Eve and her mother leaving her to take her place as the Queen of the Fairies is not unique. The troupe of a young girl's destiny to defeat the long awaited reawakening of evil is also not unique.

Lead Characters

The lead character does not stand out. Eve is a young girl who is being trained to fight the Grim Reapers and become Queen over the Earth. There is no real character distinction between her and the other characters. The dialogue is generic between all characters. All the characters have the same tone and emotion to their voices.

Uniqueness of Story

This is not a rare gem, it is an average fantasy story about good and evil. There are some interesting elements because of the ideology of the Grim Reaper but overall, it follows the formula of a fantasy story. It can be improved by character development. Everything comes to Eve relatively easily. She is living a good life, aware of her fairy heritage, has supportive friends, a magical partner in Adam and is able to fight the Reapers with much support. The story doesn't give as much conflict as it could. There isn't much tension or action.

Analyst Recommendation

WORK IN PROGRESS

Justification

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Tips for Improvement

For this to be a consider or recommend, the dialogue needs to be updated. It is formal in many instances which doesn't match the teenagers lingo. The reapers need to be more dramatic to step away from its' cheesy status as an old school Halloween figure. There needs to be more gravity to the story. The fate of the world does not feel at stake and this doesn't give the tension it needs to hold the audience's attention.
