    Accuracy of Book Profile

Going into more detail in the “author details” section would be a great idea, as it could be a section where the writer hints at other projects and what fans can expect next. Otherwise, this profile accurately reflects this project.

    Draw of Story

This is an incredibly original premise. The world of this book drew me in immediately. It’s imaginative and well crafted. Gale and Oberon are also fascinating characters. Gale in particular is immediately likable.

    Possible Drawbacks

The cuts to Flanko and Salvator slow the story down and don’t really feel necessary unless they reveal something new to readers. Currently, they feel a bit repetitive, since readers already know what Salvator and his SI are doing, based on Oberon’s explanation in previous chapters. Making Salvotor feel more nuanced and less like an outright villain could make his chapters more compelling. Oberon’s love for Gale also feels as if it happens too quickly. Specifically, the secret message he shows Gale feels like too much, too fast. While Oberon does seem conflicted about his feelings for Gale, he’s been quite a selfish character thus far. Would he really be so blunt about his feelings for Gale in that note? It’s difficult to believe given what readers have seen thus far from him. Slowing down his character arc and diving more deeply into Oberon’s emotions could help mitigate this issue.

    Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

    Primary Hook of Story

This movie would have two main hooks: the romance brewing between Oberon and Gale, and the incredibly imaginative and highly original premise.

    Fanbase Potential

Definitely. This project taps into the interests of sci-fi fans, fantasy fans, YA fans, and fans of space adventures, giving it the potential to draw a large and diverse fanbase if adapted.

    Awards Potential

If adapted, it’s easier to imagine this film succeeding as a memorable summer blockbuster rather than a film that might draw awards, but the special effects could certainly win awards if the film were granted a large enough of budget.

    Envisioned Budget

    LARGE BUDGET

    Similar Films/TV Series

THE PREMISE OF THIS PROJECT IS INCREDIBLY ORIGINAL, BUT OTHER YA FRANCHISES SUCH AS THE HUNGER GAMES AND THE HOST ALSO FEATURE STRONG FEMALE PROTAGONISTS IN A WORLD THAT FEELS PRIMED TO BE AGAINST THEM.

    What’s New About the Story

The world of this story is very original. The concept of a world filled with people with AI powers, as well as some people with SI powers feels creative and imaginative. Oberon and Gale’s romance feels a bit standard and reminiscent of common tropes at times. Diving more deeply into their characters’ emotional connection could help make their romance feel as unique and original as the rest of the book.

    Lead Characters

Gale’s strong code of honor creates an interesting contrast for her character as she navigates her life with a powerful SI that kills to protect her, even if she doesn’t want it to. Gale and Oberon’s relationship evolves in a way that makes this book difficult to put down.

    Uniqueness of Story

For fans of the sci-fi/fantasy genre in search of a story that blends a great premise with a romance at the core, this book is a rare gem.

    Possible Formats

Film: Studio, Streaming TV Series: Network, Limited Run / Mini-Series

    Analyst Recommendation

    CONSIDER

    Justification

As noted above, this book has many great strengths, but it still has a little way to go before being recommended. It’s close though, and it’s a great read.

    Brief

When a prince from another planet kidnaps the only woman on Earth with a Sciath Inchinn (a dome-like shield that makes her impervious to harm), he tries everything he can to harness her power for his own selfish motivations. But he doesn’t expect to develop feelings for the woman, and an unlikely pairing is born as the prince and the woman work together to defeat an unexpected enemy, another person with an SI and a quest for revenge.

    What We Liked

Soulsphere Imprisoned is a highly imaginative sci-fi/romance novel with compelling characters, vast and impressive world building, and a beating heart of enticing romance at its core.
Readers will fall in love with Gale McCarthy as she reckons with the dangerous power she has, and Prince Oberon, who grows and develops in a lovely way throughout the book. The story is action packed and fast paced, and plot twists throughout will keep readers guessing as they race through this book.

Film: This story truly feels like an action- packed summer blockbuster. This book sets up excellent YA franchise potential, which would work wonderfully as a film adaption. The first film would end in a satisfying way and keep readers engaged, but it would leave the door open to future films as well.

TV: Soulsphere Imprisoned would work well as a television adaptation because the world established in this book feels vast and limitless. There are so many options for future storylines, new characters, and interesting episodes. This is the kind of project that could draw fans both of sci-fi, fantasy, action, and romance.

Key points: Strong female protagonist. Original and compelling world. Action packed story. Strong writing. Excellent franchise potential.

    Synopsis

Two immensely powerful beings collide when Oberon, Prince of Choraia, commander of the Praetor’s interplanetary legion, comes to Earth with the plan to take it over. He doesn’t expect to encounter Gale McCarthy, a woman with an SI (Sciath Inchinn) so powerful that it protects her by killing any threat that comes near her. Gale doesn’t like to kill, and she doesn’t do it on purpose, but when Oberon’s men threaten her (and the planet), her SI takes them out.
Fascinated, Oberon abducts Gale in the hopes of understanding her. Gale is confused by this man in black as well, as for some reason, he is able to enter her SI in a way no one else can.
With Gale in his clutches, Oberon tries every way he can think of to test her SI. Every experiment fails. Oberon cannot figure out a single way to hurt Gale. He’s forced to bring her to his superior, the Praetor. The Praetor wants to use Gale’s powers to take over the earth, but she refuses. Because the Praetor knows that Oberon will never make Gale fear him, he gives him a new mission: make her love him.
Meanwhile, a slave uprising has taken place on Choraia, Prince Oberon’s home. His family is killed, and the slaves have at least one powerful SI at their disposal. Salvator is a lot like Gale, but he has more control of his power. Conflicted, Oberon begins to develop real feelings for Gale. He sees her kindness and respects it, especially after she discovers that she has the power to heal others, as well as kill them. Oberon sends Gale a secret message: He wants her to kill the Praetor and he’ll get her back to earth. Also, he thinks he’s falling in love with her.
When Salvator and the uprising catch up to Oberon and Gale’s ship, they destroy it. Gale and Oberon survive in space thanks to Gale’s SI, but they soon learn the Praetor has survived too, having used Gale’s DNA to craft an SI of his own. All three of them are scooped up and taken by Salvator, who wants to be with Gale and create a powerful family filled with children who have SI powers. His plan doesn’t quite work though. He can’t get Gale to do what he wants. Her bond with Oberon is still too strong. Gale is able to take her SI back from the Praetor, and the Praetor is able to escape on the ship. Salvator shoots Gale into space, telling Oberon that he’ll only save her if Oberon brings him the Praetor. Oberon and the Praetor work together to trick Salvator and save Gale, but she’s already saved herself by teleporting back onto the ship. Gale steals Salvator’s SI, the Praetor kills Salvator, and Gale sends Salvator’s SI into the Praetor, killing him when his body can’t withstand the strength of Salvator’s SI.
In the end, Gale and Oberon take control of Salvator’s ship and crew. They are happy, in love, and planning their next course of action when a mysterious ship approaches. It’s Thea, the first Choraian Sphere, and she and all of her crew have their own SIs. They are part of a society of people with SIs, and they finally reveal to Gale that her power is a Soulsphere.
