Kit Kat was born into a family of abuse and prostitution in Greece. Between 4 and 7, she is homeless, neglected, and placed in an orphanage until adopted and moved to NY. With a new name and family, her first suicide attempt fails, but she finds a friend in Jane Eyre.Writing to Jane saves her life.


After a physical fight with her adoptive mother wherein Kit Kat wraps her fingers around her mother's neck, warning her not to hit her again, Kit Kat moves out, and writes her final letter to Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre's creator, telling her that she wants to be a teacher and save lives with books.
