Amelia is an art historian married with Jake, the owner of an art gallery. She is also sister of Perthena. While recovering from her second miscarriage, Amelia finds out Jake disappeared - all she knows is that he got on a plane to Vila Capri, South America. Amelia decides to go after him, and is kidnapped. While Amelia discovers the difficult life in communities ruled by criminals, she counts with the help of Gabriel, a ten-year-old orphan to escape. As Perthena is arrested for being a drug dealer, Jake resurfaces and the couple adopts Gabriel.

What drew me into the story the most is the highly sophisticated art world in the first part of the narrative contrasting with the scenes of poor communities in Brazil where Amelia goes to find Jake.

I would watch this movie because the narrative begins with a very personal event in Amelia's life but develops quickly into a wider story raising awareness on criminal organizations in Brazil and children succumbing to drugs and crimes from very early age.

It could have a large fanbase if adapted because the combination of two opposite worlds in this narrative is highly original.

It could have awards potential if adapted as characters, especially Amelia, require flexible and competent actors. There also room for great work to be done in direction and photography in order to create a concept for both worlds involved in the narrative.

The originality of this story is not only in the combination of such opposite worlds - a sophisticated American art-expert couple and poor communities ruled by crime in South America, but the way author was able to connect them in a solid plot.

Amelia is the lead character and her characteristics are contrasting: she is naive but strong-willed; brave but fragile; fearless and vulnerable.

This story is a rare gem.

I recommend it because there are deep layers involved in this story - which may appear shallow at first - such as the reality of families in areas ruled by criminal organizations in South America.
