Development Pitch
This book is the first of four stories (so far) featuring LAPD Detective 3 Sam Leroy. Leroy will always follow orders, but will sometimes interpret those orders in his own way, even if that means challenging authority. A girlfriend features in two of the books, but Leroy's devotion to his job gets in the way of any serious romance. Audiences would find appeal in the relationship between Leroy and Ray Quinn, his junior partner. Such is the nature of their relationship, that Leroy's role crosses between partner cop, mentor, older brother, and surrogate father. In fact, Leroy has risked his own life to save Quinn's. A future book might show some tensions here. There are other recurring characters, such as Leroy's former partner, now his lieutenant, and the ME, with whom Leroy grew up. A film could be based on one individual book, but a TV series could take elements from all four of the books, over a period of weeks, revealing more about the main characters as the series goes on, maybe extending the central plot of one of the books as a story arc covering an entire season. This would also show the detectives handling more than one case at a time, and give the oppiortunity to show their private lives outside of work, and bring some tensions into their relationship.
