Accuracy of Book Profile

The book profile gives a vague description of the themes of the book. It describes hardships and theater but gives no details about the plot of the story. It needs to be more descriptive about the family having to move from their hometown to find work, Gal turning into a dragon and Sebille and Lancelot working in the theater.

Draw of Story

The story follows Gal and Sally on an adventure, being chased by some bad men for a pearl. Gal swallows it so they won't take it. When he drinks some water, he turns into a dragon. Dragons are always enthralling in a children's book.

Possible Drawbacks

The book jumps around from idea to idea, frequently. There is not a clear plot in the story. It starts with the families struggle which is the reason they move and end up in the theater. The dragons are not integral to the story even though it is given significant attention throughout. There is no driving plot and nothing exciting occurs. The family are happy working in the theater, making costumes and props for the new musical. And then it abruptly ends when the musical begins. There needs to be more excitement especially since it is a children's story. There is little to hold the attention of an adult, much less a child.

Use of Special Effects

THE STORY RELIES HEAVILY ON SPECIAL EFFECTS

Primary Hook of Story

There is no hook to the story. It is a story about a time period in this family's life. They move to a new city, work in the theater, adjust to there new lives and then put on a musical. I would watch this movie for the dragons and the magic but there is no plot to hold the audience's interest.

Fanbase Potential

This would not have a large fanbase. It does not hold up compared to current children movies. Nothing interesting or exciting happens. The dragons are nice but they just fly around .

Awards Potential

This has no awards potential. The story is not entertaining enough to be a film. There is nothing unique about the story or the events that occur.

Envisioned Budget

MEDIUM BUDGET

SPY KIDS, ONWARD, DORA AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD.

What’s New About the Story

The only unique element of this story is that it shows the children being affected by the parents hardships. New trade routes destroy the workforce in their tiny town and their father must leave the family to find work somewhere else. It is the catalyst for the story but isn't carried throughout. The tone is very optimistic much like any children's story.

Lead Characters

The lead characters do not stand out. Everyone is very 2 dimensional.

Uniqueness of Story

This is a very average story that could be condensed without losing any important moments. It could be improved by focusing on the dragon and the pearl that Gal swallows to become the dragon. It could be an adventure story about the pearl.
