Short Summary
Angelina has come to Kansas to finish her dissertation on Carnegie libraries; Traci is artist-in-residence at the arts center; and Gayle is a tornado survivor. They are inspired by their foremothers who built 59 Carnegie libraries in Kansas a century ago. They, in turn, create a new cultural center.
In the process of creating a new space, Angelina finds out how smart she is, Traci how much she is loved, and Gayle the depth of her own courage ... as in the Wizard of Oz.
