Barnabus Mudpatch is the story of a medieval street urchin who impersonates a knight, and is drawn into a world of magic, intrigue and revenge.

Short Summary
Barnabus Mudpatch is an urchin who impersonates a knight, and beats a vicious knight in a joust. That knight plans to take revenge on the knight he thinks has beat him, so Barnabus is called in to be his bodyguard. A magician sends demons to kill him, but Barnabus’s own magical powers protect him.
Barnabus has driven off magical attacks, and realises he is protected. He sneaks up on the magician responsible, and tells him that the person who humiliated the knight in the joust is called “Barnabus Mudpatch.” The magician calls down lightning and is hit by it himself. Barnabus goes home.
