Short Summary

Senmut, the son of a paper maker, becomes tutor to the king's daughter. He and Hatshepsut, the king's wife soon begin an illicit love affair. When the king dies and Hatshepsut becomes regent, Senmut helps her usurp the throne. When she becomes king, Senmut becomes the most powerful man in Egypt.

About The Author

Thomas Bauer is a native Californian. He is a graduate of Occidental College and has been an educator, theater director, actor, and writer. Oracle of the Reeds is his fourth novel. He has written seven plays, short stories, and his poetry has received publication. His editorials have appeared in the Los Angeles Times and The San Luis Obispo Tribune. He lives in Morro Bay on the Central Coast of California with his wife Joyce and his dachshund, Strudel.
