Development Pitch

I remember when I first became Klan. I was fifteen when I was recruited into the Empire's school hidden in the Appalachian Mountains. I and two hundred thousand other young men and women were shaped and molded into the new elite that would lead America. We were cocky young kids who would take on the world. We were extremely intelligent and emotionally strong. The teachers at the school were professors from prominent colleges and universities; Harvard, Yale and Berkeley to name just a few. The Klan of tomorrow is schooled in politics and international relations. We were groomed in law and government while being pampered for a country club lifestyle. When we emerged from the school ten years later, we were on the road to governor's mansions, senator and congressmen seats and the most prestigious law offices in the country. Some of us would become deans in the most renowned of teaching institutions. Some would become doctors and teachers, while others would become some of the highest- ranking officers in the United States Navy, Army, Air Force and Marines. Gone is the name-calling, uneducated Klan that the public was used to seeing; its members marching down city streets, the white-robed men shouting racial slurs. Now the Klan rarely makes appearances in its old way of protest. So, no one suspected. No one knew what dangers truly lurked behind those hoods; a powerful lion waiting, tail twitching, ready to jump on any unwary prey. I am ready. Davis Moreland, Vice President

Accuracy of Book Profile

The book profile accurately reflects the book.

Draw of Story

What drew me into the book was the brutality described in the first scene of a lynching. It is an interesting concept that the KKK takes a different approach to infiltrate the ideology of the world and create havoc in the name of order.

Possible Drawbacks

The KKK is a sensitive subject as an African American person. It is a horrifying thought that they would amass that kind of power. While they are meant to be the villains, it was uncomfortable especially in these current times.

Use of Special Effects

Primary Hook of Story

The hook is that the KKK is successful with pushing their agenda and are able to segregate races for generations.

Fanbase Potential

This could have a large fanbase if marketed as a young adult adaptation like Hunger Games.

Awards Potential

As it stands, this does not have award potential.

What’s New About the Story

As it is right now, there isn't anything about the story that is original. I think keeping the KKK aspect of it makes it different.

Lead Characters

There is nothing about the lead characters that stand out. There are so many characters in this story that none of them are very developed.

Uniqueness of Story

This is an average story that could be a gem if developed properly. There is a lot of excessive information when time can be spent building the world and developing the story.

Analyst Recommendation

While the story has many positive points, it has room for improvement (see possible paths below). If you can't change the story at this point, my suggestion is using your notes as a guide to highlight the best aspects of it when taking the next steps, either putting a pitch page together, a treatment, or a presentation.

Tips for Improvement

The beginning and the end do not connect. This feels like two separate stories with a very minor common thread.
